A. Let Chris reach the distance X miles on boat and walks 6-X miles. Hence time taken by her will be sqrt(2^2 + X^2)/3 + (6-X)/6 = T (say) T has to be minimum hence take the first order derivative and make it =0. Solving will give you X = 2/sqrt(3). She should land her boat at above X distance to take least time.
